The short-eared owl lives in prairies all over the world, from Europe to Africa, from South America to Asia. It is a migratory bird of prey and in the winter season it arrives in Italy, including Sardinia. With its elegant flight it searches the tall grass a few meters high in search of small mammals to hunt.
