Reserva ecológica El Ángel, Carchi, Ecuador | February 2015

El Ángel ecological reserve is the smallest protected area of Ecuador. It is located in the north of the country, on the border with Colombia between 3400 and 4200 m a.s.l. The soil is a real sponge rich of water and the frailejones, the dominant plant, are the main feature of this páramo.
