A journey for lovers of nature photography, who want to start this animals research adventure and to take photos of the species, included the brown bear and the ural owl in a coniferous beech trees forest in the Notranjska Park in Southern Slovenia. We will use a photographic hut to admire and take pictures of many bears living in this environment.
We will walk through the woods hoping to meet the Ural Owl and other wild animals, such as deer, hare, wolf, etc.
We will admire so many blooms that abound in this period, from wild peony to wild orchids.
All the places we will visit are located within the Notranjska Regional Park. It is a region characterized by intermittent lakes, caves, natural bridges, forests, and above all, a high number of animal and plant species, including some endemic to the area.
The action of water on limestone and dolomite substrates has given rise to impressive karst phenomena. One example is the intermittent lake of Cerknica. A plain that, after heavy rainfall, can transform in just three days into Slovenia's largest lake, and which, during summer droughts, can almost completely dry up in three weeks. Its waters flow underground and resurface at Rakov Škocjan (the Rakov Škocjan Valley), which was once a cave whose ceiling has since collapsed. Evidence of this can be seen in two imposing natural stone bridges.
We will venture into the forest surrounding Mount SneΕΎnik, a vast plateau covered by beech and fir trees, interspersed with grasslands and pine woods at higher altitudes. This is the ideal habitat for brown bears, wolves, deer, wild boars, wildcats, lynxes, and hares, as well as numerous bird species such as the Ural Owl, the Corn Crake, the Capercaillie, the Hazel Grouse, and the Golden Eagle.
