Mejlogu is a Sardinian region known for its volcanic cones. Their silhouettes characterize the landscape: plateaus from the top of which you can enjoy a 360° view of the typical bucolic environment of the area; prairies surrounded by majestic cork oaks bent by the mistral, fantastic subjects waiting to be captured at dawn cloaked in fog or backlit at sunset; remote and lesser-known valleys, ideal training grounds for taking countless pictures of the waterfalls.
A unique environmental heritage. The Porto Conte Regional Nature Park extends over five thousand hectares of the coast and hinterland of Alghero. The territory, largely flat, borders the sea for 60 kilometers: sandy beaches alternate with overhanging cliffs. An immense expanse of pristine landscapes with a breathtaking view of the sea, and a unique diversity of plant and animal species. The ideal background for photographing the Sardinian tree frog.
The ponds in Cabras are one of the largest and most productive marsh ecosystems in Europe. The quartz-based beach of Is Arutas and Mari Ermi, the dune flora, the ponds in the background with their ospreys and greater flamingos, and the colorful meadows will be some of the protagonists of the day we will devote to the Sinis peninsula.
Bottlenose dolphins are a species of dolphin populating the Mediterranean Sea. Yelkouan and Scopoli's shearwaters are seabirds which spend most of the year in the open sea, only approaching the coast during the breeding season. Adult shearwaters can be distinguished from the yellow-legged gull (Larus michahellis) for their coral red beak with a black and yellow tip, and their dark olive-green feet. The Gulf of Oristano is an ideal place for observing all these sea animals.
A forest area set apart by its rich vegetation, where majestic downy oaks take center stage and where rare bird species such as the golden eagle and the griffin can be observed. We will explore the natural environment of Mount Minerva, consisting of seasonal ponds rich in flora and microfauna, such as the Sardinian tree frog. Numerous wild orchids bloom here. A picturesque river flowing within a canyon will give us a chance to photograph waterfalls and small ponds.
